Final Exam
Required questions
1. I like to use the needle tool, modeling tool, loop tool and ribs.
2. From the beginning of the year I didn’t know the use and importance of using tools and not just your hands.
Pick 3
1.My favorite was clay and throwing on the wheel. The reason I like this is because it is fun but challenging and can make a piece very even and beautiful.
4. the reason I made things off size is how hard or long it is going to take for me to complete.technique and material was typically assigned but when I could I typically add lots of color.
5. I thought my most unsuccessful piece was the foam piece. The reason it was unsuccessful was because I had a hard time making it 3D and controlling my patience. Next time if I did it I would make something more simple because my patience was not there.

I feel this project used what I have learned this year with shaping and sculpting.
I think the frame was the least at learning concepts. I just think that we did clay before so it was kinda like just shaping something to paint with.
A place that reflects me as an artist is probably my room at home. The reason it is, is because it has a lot of my different art styles and techniques all over my room.
My least favorite material to work with was foam because it got everywhere and was loud. Also I struggled at it. But if I just pushed through I’m fine with it.

In progress cardboard piece
My plans for my piece is to make it more colorful so it can catch the eye. kinda just going for it
Making the piece was hard to get the face proportionate. But I thought the hair worked well by me tearing off the layer to make it curl.

2. If i were to do it again i would have made it a little bigger and have more of his body in it.
3. If you were to start this of course start with a sketch then work to the base of the piece.

Inspired Artist (Julien Malland) aka Seth
ISeth’s art includes dozens of paintings, installations, and sculptures.
Vibrant colors and geometrical shapes are complicated by themes of conflict and loneliness.
50 of his pieces are faceless
Their website: https://seth.fr/en/
The reason Seth is my inspired artist is because the way they use art as language and the faceless art. Also I love how he uses color for the face that’s not there.

FRAME
My theme was a trippy night and day sky. I used mushrooms and waves of color to show the trip.
I liked the outcome of the shape and mushrooms.
i would probably change the thickness
the process was I created a clay slab and cut out the shape and started cutting more shapes to add on top then we glazed

Tripod mug set
The process of the mug~ the process of the mug was a long process we first started by using the clay slab board to get a flat even piece of clay to wrap around. Then score and slip the sides slanted then create the three legs. After that it’s just came down to design then underglaze and glaze.
I didn’t use a handle because it was already large and it went in for a better grip.
I thought that the dripping of the glaze and shape was very successful.
A clay slab is a flat piece of clay from a rolling board.

Sgraffito
I just watched Mulan and I was thinking how pretty the trees were in it and wanted to make a piece with cherry blossoms.
I threw the bottom bowl of the piece and then threw the top then used the slap roller to create two handles.

. I threw the bottom bowl of the piece and then threw the top then used the slap roller to create two handles then I started to scratch it after it dried then underglaze.
i think I did this quickly and neat
i thought the handles and tree details were good and I would probably do the top again to make it more even.

Greek pottery paper
I used a calyx krater.
This was a large crater in Ancient Greece used for watering down wine.
sgraffito- a clay scratch art on pottery. Also the use of underglaze.

detailing I thought was good.
my difficulty was time mostly some things look a little rushed

Pitfire
The finished pit
i threw the first smaller one first. Then decided to hand make the bowl. When I got done and the were fired I threw salt and eggs and coffee and some wood to add fun colors.
i liked the shape of the first one a lot and if I had to change I would probably throw the bowl.

Unfinished
I threw the smaller one and got it fired.
then I hand made the wavy bowl.
it was difficult to make the wavy bowl and I like the one I threw.
i thought I would make the design creative so to throw pop colors everywhere.
